The mild end of the 1878 range. Velvet Roast uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over the same Dominican filler core, and the shift in wrapper changes the whole personality of the cigar.
Cream, almond and a light cedar sweetness, with none of the pepper the darker roasts carry. It is the 1878 you can smoke first thing without regretting it, and the Corona is the size that suits that best.
