In pre-embargo Cuba, box-pressing happened differently — cigars were packed tightly into the box while still fresh and took their shape from the pressure of each other rather than from a mould.
Spanish Press revives that method, which gives a softer, less uniform press than modern moulding and a distinctive draw. Rich and rounded, with cedar and sweet earth. Robusto, toro or gigante.
