Charter Oak is Foundation's value line, named for the Connecticut tree on the state quarter. The Habano version wraps Nicaraguan filler in an Ecuadorian Habano leaf and sells for well under half what El Gueguense does.
Sweet cedar, pepper and a nutty core, medium-bodied and honestly built. Nicholas Melillo spent years sourcing tobacco for Drew Estate before starting Foundation, and the leaf quality here reflects that.
